just had a birthday and I've been thinking a lot about this - how I'm an "adult" but I don't feel like it, but what makes me that is that in the eyes of kids I look like I have it all together? that if I saw myself now I'd be like okay I'm an adult? or maybe it's just that I've learned a lot and got through the awkward stages they're in and now may only seem to have entered into this phase of being a whole grown person. or maybe it's just that I know more what I like and can dress myself and do my hair better after years of not figuring it out? maybe that's what it's about? like you said...they're not seeing my bank account...

@BROOKS when i was a kid i thought 19 year olds were the pinnacle of maturity tbh so it’s safe to say she would be proud of very far removed from 19 me…i really think part of being an adult is accepting there’s no one way to feel like one.

looking out for your future self

while in the present — ‘hide’ that little piece of chocolate in your bag, ‘forget’ that $20 in your jacket pocket, ‘misplace’ a bundle of rolled goodness, and when you eventually rediscover the once forgotten, your future self will thank past you. there is only so much i can do in the present, still i never cease to look out for future me.
