Summer vibes for sure, I remember driving through the streets of Berlin, blasting this song out of my roommates car and hustling to find jobs and money.

If there is a more '90s video, group and song I'd love to know what it is. - 70s-era "Paul's Boutique" imitating hipster clothing choices - Filmed around a pool, with a random dog, and several gratuitous American flag shots - Fast-motion creepy wind-up toy visuals - Stocking hat in summer, b/w obnoxiously large Cobain-inspired sunglasses - American So Cal singer who clearly loved Johnny Rotten's sneering fuck-off vox - A veritable guitar army of vintage pieces (Gretsch White Falcon, sparkle finish Fender Strat, Gibson SG) - 3-axe, Lynyrd Skynyrd-esque noise storm, wah-wah solo + incredible energy, seemingly from out of nowhere only to disappear at a Lollapalooza midway or something - Lyrics that sound vaguely pissed at The Man but without articulating anything specific -- "Why don't you believe, believe in your own god?" Literally: get your own goddamn god. 1993 was my shit, yo.

There was a special moment in the 90’s where businesspeople had a craze for levitating pens and pendulum toys and things that worked with magnetism.
I wonder if there was this shared feeling that they held a steady control of the helm and the floating pens were actually symbols of their confidence in shaping the world at the time. The idea that “hey we can make things float so really we can do anything!”

This evening I went out for a walk in the rain. It wasn’t cold and the red lights of Korean BBQ places made it feel warmer.  I walked into a Blenz coffee shop, a few semi-opened umbrellas were huddled by the entrance and there were about 5 or 6 people inside. I went up to the counter and ordered a hot chocolate, took a seat and looked around. The lights were a cozy warm yellow, and there were postcards and pictures and cute art pinned on the wall. As I waited I listened to the beginning of “Complicated” by Avril Lavigne playing in the background.  Some people worked on their laptops or read while others spoke in low soft voices.  It was a calm moment that made me appreciate those special times when things move slowly.
(My rec- listen to the song but on low volume)
