been wanting to read this book for the longest time and finally had to read it for a book club this month. coming-of-age story set in taipei in the late 1980s as the narrator, closeted lesbian, navigates queerness, academia, relationships and more. started it late and had to read it in a rush but somehow that made it more enjoyable. i love the narration and the overall tone.

very rich . very angsty . might leave more questions than answers but I wasnt looking for answers persay . leaves you with lots to muse on . I just liked how extreme this was , and I read it over time to let it infuse into my life. after my first reread, I started it again the next day .

if there’s a sad asian girl book ill read it and this one was stunning and crushed my heart with its relatability. short stories w protagonists managing their lack of self worth, feeling undesirable, being around white ppl, feeling weird as fuck in america, etc.

stop going to Starbucks or McDonald's! delete X/Twitter and start posting on here or on Bluesky instead! stop legally streaming HYBE or SM Entertainment or any K-POP companies that refuse to see their artists as humans worthy of rights in the workplace! switch from Spotify to Apple Music or any other service that pay their artists more! we have so much power why do we forget
