Strange guy and somewhat inconsistent, but a conceptual genius. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is my favorite scifi novel for how thematically relevant it is to the modern human experience.
Slaughterhouse Five is amazing but only vaguely qualifies as scifi
Not the TV series, which doesn't pull the relevant threads from the book very strongly, but the book. The book itself was written by Dick using the I Ching, which itself feels very similar to generative AI.
he writes what i like to call "thoughtful sci-fi" - you could read the story that the movie arrival is based on, story of your life - another one that i liked was tower of babylon
anyway he has two books with short stories which will definitely make you think
i have mentioned this collection before and likely will again... it is so imaginative and immersive and strange! i read it many years ago and need to revisit desperately!! very dimensional science fiction stories with distinct language style and masterful worldbuilding. also he coined the term "cyberspace" in the burning chrome title story. written and compiled in the 1980s
