if u want to feel like ur in a heartbreaking coming of age movie…this is the perfect ep for it. nearly two years later i still can’t get over it. apparently this is NOT a common thought but i asked a friend recently leading up to recommending this “do you ever hear a song or watch something and think ‘damn i wish i made that’?” and they said never…and completely threw off my entire point…ANYWAYS that’s exactly how i feel every time i listen to this ep. favorite song changes with every listen. james ivy i think you are so cool.

I think I've bawled my eyes out to every track at this point for different reasons. not even exaggerating. once you think you're done with it you get hit with a brand new emotion and find new symbolism in the lyrics. and another painful feeling to unfurl and free yourself from. if I could get everyone to listen to an album this would be my pick

there is something so cool about this unspoken juxtaposition rule in the more psychologically volatile genres, where the lyrics are bleak and anxious, always tapping into darker territory, but the melody remains beautiful and oddly comforting. i have been re-looping lots of carissa’s wierd - songs about leaving lately, and now this thought refuses to leave me alone. idk!!!! it’s just such a common case where something viscerally crushing happens to produce the most tender and fragile sounds, and i know it is a bit of a cornplate-level observation, but i have been pondering a lot about this
