Honestly one of the things I miss most about being very young is being able to shamelessly people watch. No one flinches when a toddler or a child is looking at them. It's cute. They are small and curious. I am still small and curious but now I'm somewhat of adult and it's not as cute to be staring someone down. But I really love just seeing people go about their lives. Looking at the ways they dress and the things they carry and how they talk to the people they are with. So fascinatingly human.
i used to be of a certain opinion that you should people watch and gossip as a way to destress, but i think there’s a ricochet effect bc even tho it’s cathartic in the moment you become more paranoid about people gossiping about you. just watching people and enjoying their vibe has in fact changed my life: to see others enjoy is joy. people talk about being at peace with nature but being at peace with your environment people and all is so much better.
It's so lawless. You’ll see the weirdest things and no one will care. People are so unabashedly human here. Dead expressions, exhaustion, boredom. You’ll get a coffee, someone else will get a bloody mary, the time is irrelevant. Your priorities will be tested, everything costs at least three times as much as it should, it won’t matter. I love liminal spaces.
