I work at a pizza shop, and I love my regulars. Itā€™s nice to have such a casual, inconsequential interaction on the daily. I donā€™t really like small talk, but Iā€™ve been practicing it with my regulars because I realize I canā€™t just skip from not talking with someone to sharing our deepest secrets. I like connecting superficially with strangers. I am a regular at a coffee shop, and that also has its benefits. All the baristas love to see my dog. We walked in for our coffee the other day and the barista goes ā€œOz is here you guys! Oz is here in person!ā€ To some other people sitting at the counter, and everyone was so excited to see him and pet him. My roommate also got their car stolen recently and the barista let us have our drinks for free because he felt bad about it. Itā€™s always nice to know I have one solid pleasant interaction a day waiting for me.

Itā€™s nice to remember that the world is brimming with kind people. I by no means have lengthy conversations with them, but even a joke or an observation to the store attendant makes me feel like I am the sort of person who is casual about things. Itā€™s fun and reminds me to get outside my (sometimes claustrophobic) bubble.

I have posted many times about my Friday adventures to the cafe. As I am trying to learn to take myself out on dates, I also am trying to make some friends and acquaintances along the way. Iā€™m trying to develop a sense of community for myself outside of home and work. Yesterday I had a lovely time drawing at the cafe and I had a conversation with the older man who was sitting next to me. I think heā€™s been there once before but this time he was asking me about my art. I learned that he used to make art as well. It was a really nice little chat and it really made me feel alive !!! :) I hope to have more instances like this in the future <3

Iā€™ve always had struggles starting/maintaining conversations, so when I was in college, I would find something to compliment a stranger on (typically a cashier or someone I had to talk to) because I remembered how good I felt when I unexpectedly got a compliment from someone. When I myself became a cashier at a coffee shop, it was a really nice way to make someone feel good if they looked bored or upset. It also helps with awkward silences. I still do it when I can or when the situation calls for it, and itā€™s so nice to see people react and smile.

Maybe this isnā€™t so much a fix for staff, but I feel like the reposting of things has gotten a bit lame. I donā€™t want the ā€œEveryoneā€ feed to be the same post 20 times with nothing added, especially when the thing being re-recā€™d isnā€™t even a real reccomendation in the first place. I like this app because it is different than Instagram and Twitter and tumblr and the like. I feel like people are trying to interact similarly to those other apps here. I feel like we are all drifting back into creating the same social media AGAIN. My vote would be to remove the feature entirely, but I see how it can be used thoughtfully

I like to make jewelry that would fulfill my inner childā€™s wishlist! I also sell the jewelry and I like to do silly photoshoots and edit the pictures to show it off. Like tow arts in one
