Recently I have started exploring my local woods and parks for herbs and leaves to use for teas and cooking. Today I found Three Cornered Leek and some wild garlic growing right next to it ! I love running around with my little plant identifier app and becoming more and more able to identify all the edible ( and terribly not edible) plants growing around me each day. I pop on my little foraging playlist that makes me feel like a wizard and I skip home with my baggie full of leaves:)
This is the wild garlic I found today
I have a mental map of where the rosemary bushes are and I love to take a walk with a plastic bag to grab a little and walk back home like rapunzel eating from the forbidden garden
It is good I feel to keep playful expressions of frustration such as this in my arsenal. Sometimes i'll throw in a ' goodness me!' or a simple ' lord!' does the trick also. Something very Charlie Brown about it
And recording your findings in a little dedicated notebook!
Just went on a quest to find the best way to incorporate thyme into a lemon and blueberry cheesecake, and wrote down my findings in detail . Life is good
Ever since I read this article on psychogeography map making I've been obsessed with making maps based on on arbitrary factors such as smellscapes, sounds, plant life etcetera in my city. Little field guides if you will
