In tandem with my last post, this track right here is pure bliss. Raye is such an ethereal gem and so talented that I'm gobsmacked that she is real.
The original studio-recorded track is amazing, but the live version is magic. The riffs, the runs, her heartfelt intro, the saxophone solo, and all the other random nuggets that make the live track into the exuberant joy it is!
Plus, the album cover is so cute! Look at those fonts and smiles!!

truly nobody is doing it like her. it'd be one thing if it was just the lyricism, which, frankly? unmatched. in like every category. like it's not even close. she's doing laps around a lot of much more popular rappers in her sleep
but then ON TOP OF THAT, her instrumentals are just exquisite. i think "SIMBI" takes the cake in this regard, but i also think "grey area" and "stillness in wonderland" are just underrated delights as well
but then on top of ALL OF THAT, THE ARTISTIC VISION?? mad (lol). watch just one of her music videos and you'll see what i mean (shit like gorilla is like such an inspiration like that's the kinda thing i wanna make one day)
but ugggh i'm just so happy to be living in an era where so many women rappers are thriving like we got MEG, we got SIMZ, we got WHACK, we got DOECHII, we got BREE, we got MILLI, we got TATE like we are BLESST

πI scratched my right upper arm down the side of the wing extension of the stage (basically painted panels) and I still had to act dead (final battle in Les mis, I was a student among other things) so I lay there with my arm potentially bleeding and then I finished the last 20 minutes of the show. I checked my arm and by golly there was a large skin ripped scar down my arm (slight bleeding) which I had to deal with for the next 3 shows (yes ik torture, well so was my shower that night). Now I have a nice little scratch down the side of my arm (which looks pretty badass tbh) which will hopefully leave a permanent scar (weird request ik but I loved and breathed that show for months and now itβs been a few days since closing night and now I miss it)
