i honestly never make coffee at home, except on weekends sometimes. i treat it like daydrinking on a summer day, tossing my grocery cupboard free coffee definitely not suitable for french press into my french press without measuring, letting it seep while i cook a protein of choice, finish eating fruit and that protein, piyring the coffee into my stained and broken bowie mug, drinking it too fast while watching a random music video... post too many words online, clean my floors

the thing is I don’t even like ”good“ coffee. i take my coffee hot and black - I love diner style percolator burnt coffee too… if anyone has any tips on making French press coffee please lmk. I can’t seem to make it taste good and shitty like diner coffee and end up spending money on it every other day on campus

After a long year of mindlessly drinking pre-ground french press or instant (shame me) coffee, it felt like a tiring morning task to get me through the day. Recently my friend convinced me to put more love into making my morning cup of coffee. That means hand grinding and measuring my beans to make sure that I can make a consistently tasty cup every single time. It all started with this JavaPresse hand grinder for the beans, and an Aeropress coffee maker brewed using the inverted method for consistency. The difference in smell and taste is remarkable, and I don't think I'll ever settle for less. Sure it takes more time and effort, but it has become a healthy and refreshing self care routine to kick the day.

I drink coffee primarily for the caffeine and the ritual, if you couldn’t tell. At the moment I’m too poor to go out and get coffee very often so I am making it myself, I have experimented with several pourover methods over the years and have concluded that any form of pourover that involves grinding fresh beans and weighing them out is inferior to slapping a pre-ground Seattle’s Best dark roast in the machine and letting it run and maybe throwing in a tiny bit of Trader Joe’s Brown Sugar Oat Creamer
