I don’t know what it is about them, maybe it’s the music or the terrible graphics, or maybe just remembering how it felt to have so much extra time on my hands that I could sit and play whatever free/cheap video game I could get my little hands on and disappear for hours on end without having to stress about deadlines or sleep schedules. Sometimes when its slow at work I’ll play some of the old soundtracks on my headphones to pass the time :)

I’ve been revisiting the wonders of super simple games for when I don’t want to be doing what I should be doing. The fact that they’re played on a computer as opposed to a phone means that I can quickly switch back to what I’m working on when I start to feel too guilty. It feels better than scrolling, anyway! These got me through college long ago:
Robot Unicorn Attack, so addictive not just in gameplay but in its perfect looped use of “Always” by Erasure (banger)
QWOP, possibly the best procrastination game ever invented mostly bc it eventually becomes so frustrating you’d just rather do your actual work but until then you will keep trying relentlessly. Theres no better feeling than advancing enough to hear more notes of “Chariots of Fire”
Pls rec any others you like!

not too long ago, I made a list going of all the PC games I could recall playing as a kid. I wanted to relive those precious afternoons I spent losing track of time in the computer lab of my public library.
I recently found one of my favs, Pajama Sam: No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside (1996) on Steam. playing it as an adult brought me so much joy, I can't even tell you. and the reviews on Steam made me smile so much, especially the one below (hilarious). I also realized that Pajama Sam is voiced by Pamela Adlon (Spinelli Recess, Bobby King of the Hill, etc.) which is cool af.
so go find those games you used to play & travel back in time! I was shocked with how much I remembered. plus there's nothing like hearing those 90's sound FX, they just don't make em like that anymore. :')

I can’t get enough of this song. Every time I listen to it I can’t help but imagine a happy future with someone that I love who loves me too <3

It seems so simple and yet people tend to forget just how important it is to REGULARLY let the people around know how much you care and appreciate them. It can be nice to hear from other people that you care for me or you think I’m pretty or funny, but it means 1000x more coming from you!! Stop being afraid to show you care, it’s never stupid and its always appreciated
