First when I was about four I wanted to be a standup comedian, then I wanted to work with Greenpeace, then I wanted to be a novelist, then I wanted to be a Broadway star but I have literally no ability to dance, then I wanted to be a clinical psychologist. by high school my grades were tanking because I was skipping school a lot and not turning in any work and I saw Cirque du Soleil Quidam and wanted to move to Montreal and be a circus clown despite having no athletic skill. Then I wanted to be a hand model which is what I would tell my school guidance counselors when they would angrily ask what I was going to do with my life. Would have said a regular model but I’m short so I wanted to be realistic but now I am a hair model (not as a career) so that’s fun. I think I’ve made out pretty well for myself for a girl with no direction…

FIRST LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE RIGHT OUT OF HIGHSCHOOL

One of my coolest first has gotta be my first leadership experience back in undergrad, first year. I was doing two degrees, business admin and a diploma in liberal arts. In the liberal arts course, we had theatre as a subject, and for finals the whole class had to perform a play. We did a short version of the Tom Cruise movie A Few Good Men. I ended up leading the backstage team and honestly it was pretty awesome. Never thought someone like me, who’s all about business and finance, would get their first leadership role in theatre. So yeah, that’s my coolest first!

organizing shows

as a kid i really liked putting on shows usually singing and dance but it was all very organized like i had a pamphlet i would write that would have the name of the song, who was performing, what time the "show" started and when it would end its really funny looking back on it cause its one of the things i really enjoy doing now having structure and directing things

Seeing Smoke coming out of chimneys makes me so unexplainably happy

I can‘t even begin to explain the dopamine hit I get when I see chimney smoke. Maybe it reminds me that there’s actually people inside, that there are other people living completely different lives that I would never know about? Maybe it’s the aesthetic? It just somehow makes me feel less alone in the world.

BEING ABLE TO TALK TO YOUR PARENTS ABOUT UNCOMFORTABLE AND HARD THINGS

it’s 3 am and I just had the most amazing conversation with my mom about my sexuality and what it means. I’m so grateful to have a family that not only loves and accepts me but truly wants to know about my life and experiences and wants to learn about queerness and what lgbtqia+ people experience. I came out of the conversation feeling so much better and feeling like a weight has been lifted now that I’ve been able to get things off my chest. I hope everyone is able to have someone like that in their life ❤️
