I have a dent in my right eyebrow that’s only visible when I raise my brow. This scar came from recess in 2nd grade. Recess has just started and I was insanely pumped to be outside with my buddies playing wizards or whatever other bullshit we had planned that week. I ran right out into the asphalt that you had to cross to get to the playground , and forgot to pay attention to my surroundings. I remember smiling so hard that I could feel it in my cheeks, and I felt so free running as fast as I possibly could to get to the tire swings before the other kids in my grade got to them. Just as I got about halfway across, I felt the impact of someone pushing me over with all of their might. I fell face first, skidding about 5 feet just on my face. I slowly got up and immediately felt the blood rushing over my eyelashes. I started crying and someone alerted the supervisor, who brought me to the nurse. I had a fat lip, a scraped up face, and the skin above my eyebrow was broken open. It didn’t really hurt, just felt kind of numb after it was cleaned and taken care of. My mom still got called in because I was pretty shaken up from the whole ordeal. Later in the day, I had a girlscouts meeting to attend at one of the girl’s homes. I told my mom I was fine to go, so we went. When we got there, it turned out that the girl who was hosting its little brother was the one who pushed me LOL. He had confessed to his mom earlier in the day that he felt so bad because he pushed a girl on recess who had run into the middle of his kickball game. i saw the fear on his face when he saw me walk into their entryway and ended up leaving early. Wild Times of Second Grade!

In 2017, I took a spill while on a run. I stuck my hands out to catch myself but was moving so quickly that I just scraped my whole body across the pavement — face first. I still have a scar on my upper lip from where the concrete scraped me.
I was in shock and happy I still had my teeth. I had also just started a new job, so I was between insurances and without dental, so I’m glad I didn’t really mess myself up. Instead of going to a doctor, I went out for drinks with a friend lol.

mom was using a machete to clear the tall weeds in our yard at our new house in Thailand. i walked up behind her to ask a question and got caught in her backswing. i clutched my elbow and saw a dark red streak go down my arm. it was so deep you could see ligaments and fat tissue. we had to drive 45 mins into town to get stitches and tetanus shot but at least i got out of yard work for the day. lucius is so jealous of this scar lmao
i also have a scar on my leg from a lipoma (benign fat tumor) that needed removal in high school. and a huge scar from surgery to repair my broken collarbone from the seatbelt that saved me from dying in a horrible accident in college. i have metal plates and screws holding me together. and a few scars on my hands and wrists from the broken windshield glass.

You don't always have to be doing something productive or creative. Sometimes it is okay to just take a step back and exist.

I've posted about this once before and will post about it again, I'm sure. One of the things that I have noticed since getting letterboxed last year is how afraid people are to admit they like something. that new animated k-pop movie on netflix made me notice this again when three of the people that I have on there prefaced their reviews with a variant of "i consumed this ironically, but it was actually kind of good..." ...LAME... and a little bit pathetic to see tbh. We really need to remember that you only live once. just fucking enjoy the stuff you like, and stop asking the world for permission and acceptance to do so! being so afraid of what others will think when you post a review under a kid's movie is more cringe than admitting you like a kid's movie.
