one of the greatest directors of all time. no one captured the beauties and complexities of life and love, created intimacy with words and conversations and complex and authentic characters quite like he did. and no one captured the look and feeling of summer like he did. go watch some of his films, you won’t regret it :)

I really enjoyed Jacques Audiards A Prophet, which is about life in prison also Claire Denis' Beau Travail it was probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing movies I've seen and I highly recommend Lukas Dhonts Close, I can't even describe how devastating this film was, it's a Belgian film but they speak french so I'd say it counts, it's a must watch imoo.

in no particular order, here are some i really enjoy :) most of them are pretty popular, though so i don’t know if they’ll be new to you ! - anything by jacques demy (i haven‘t seen all of his films, but i love everything i have seen <3 they’ll definitely cheer you up. something a little less popular by him is donkey skin, which is so fun!!) - also anything by wong kar wai ! (fallen angels is a personal favorite. i’d also recommended happy together if you want something that’ll make you cry haha) - the double life of veronique (a recent watch for me, super dreamy yet psychological) - la pointe-curte (directed by agnes varda. if you enjoy marriage story, you’ll like this too ! it’s slow and dialogue heavy, but definitely moving) hope you find something new from here and feel better soon !!

logging day 1 on this platform. I'm here because everywhere else feels noisy, and the salt lamp in my room refuses to weep with me.
