have to remember to pay it forward for my roommates' friends helping us feed the cats thru this freeze. i shall do this by getting into the community garden and growin em some sweet veg when it warms up.

🪙I have been calling in a lot of favors recently (mostly cat sitting as i’ve had a lot of travel necessities accumulate this month for some reason) and thankfully I have friends who are happy to do it for free, so I have been compensating them with tokens of gratitude. I got one friend who’s into sake a nice bottle from a place in town he hasn’t been to. for another friend I got them a big ol bag of their favorite sweet treats. Another friend of mine works on an IOU system so we have been exchanging favors (not in a quid pro quo way more of a serviceberry economy type beat).
in these trying times we’re all feeling a little pinched, but a favor goes a long way in helping folks take care of what they have to do without putting them in more of a squeeze. Pay it forward and show a little personalized love and keep that IOU tally in your back pocket and build your own little economy of reciprocity

🤝i am just one person and while i can stay engaged and up to date, i can't solve all the horrors of this world. however, i can help my neighbor. i can do harm reduction. i can share what i have and if i don't have what you're looking for i probably know someone who does. mutual aid is satisfying like a community care jigsaw puzzle. it reminds me that the small connections matter and that there are caring people everywhere, often right down the street. and i've accidentally made lifelong friends in the process.

imagine crafting with your bare hands the perfect life, or maybe even an imperfect one full of flaws and fuckups, but it's yours, and it's okay because you're full of love. imagine that you filled yourself with that love though, that you're overflowing with it and, cup running over, imagine sharing a taste of your beautiful messy life with somebody else, and whether they end up drunk on you, or needing you like water, or poisoned, know your cup won't empty as long as you keep refilling it with yourself. its 3:30 am and im sleep-deprived so this is one of those, maybe better in the drafts posts. stay thirsty, my friends.
