close your eyes… it’s 2014… clarity by zedd is on the radio probably.. people are getting mustaches tattooed on their index fingers… girls everywhere are hanging mandala tapestries in their bedrooms…. starbucks is IN and vidcon is like the olympics for chronically online people .. some may regard this as a dark time for the culture but i yearn for these simpler days

things were easier (because i was a kid) but it seemed so simple. where are all the frozen yogurt restaurants? why don’t people have cds anymore? bring back limewire and online chat blogs and weird websites and silly graphic t-shirts and chunky sneakers and twee and hipster styles. i miss collegehumor and buzzfeed. but i bring the nostalgia for myself back every day by dressing like i stepped out of a rhett and link music video and listening to modest mouse and metric and the yeah yeah yeahs. i love my digital camera and my dvds and volunteering at my university radio station.

It turns out that if you don't look at your iPhone, you can convince yourself that the world is still in the early 2010s. Bring some friends and skateboards to the Trading Post and watch the hipsters buy overpriced band tees. Bump some Odd Future and NERD, and take photos on a shitty digital camera. To finish off the day, see some high schoolers play a punk show at Genghis Cohen to remind yourself why we all wanted a supreme box tee back in 2013.
