I started thinking about this after seeing Splendor in the Grass which came out in 1961 and is about horny teenagers in 1928. It’sa good movie and it really surprised me by portraying female sexual desire! Like those women in their dresses and petticoats or whatever got as horny as anyone in a more liberated time!
it made me realize how rare that is. There are lots of depictions of women with crushes or swooning, but almost never is there a mention of lust that isn’t for comic effect.
Since most movies have been made by men, that might be a good thing…
