at my local art museum on valentine’s day, i watched an older man walk up to his companion (another older man), put his hand on his shoulder, and say, “i have a personal story to tell you” while guiding him to the piece that evoked said personal story
i don’t know how long they had known each other, but they got to know each other a little better in that museum ✨

my first date with my bf (who at the time was my friend) was to an art exhibit and then we went to a diner. Art museums / exhibits are cool cause you can discuss each piece if you want! and you can discover what they gravitate towards and think about. also when i asked him out i called him on the phone. soooo nerve wracking but i needed to let him know i was serious. good luck my friend.

A favorite artist of mine had a solo show in a gallery and I was extremely excited to attend, having only seen the work digitally. The artist posted a story offering to come to the gallery and give folks a talk about the artwork, all you had to do was send a DM. A little nervously, and maybe one wine in, I messaged him to say I’d love to take him up on the offer. And he said yes! We scheduled the time and met at the gallery for an in-depth tour of the artwork, his process, inspirations, and associations with the work. A deeply inspiring and personal experience that I’m so glad I got to have.
Maybe think about taking people up on their offers from a stick of gum, to a ride to the airport, to the last slice of cake. It feels really good to receive.

i love people watching in general, but there's something so special about not just viewing the art in museums, but observing those who surround you take in the paintings in front of them. you can tell a lot about people with how seriously they are about studying the paintings and understanding all the hidden stories in between the artists strokes. i love going to museums with my mom because of how we both love to point out the little details and wonder what the stories behind the paintings are.

the way to plant roots is to stay in the same place for as long as possible! you don’t get that by driving out of town for every meal and beverage and thing you want

i stopped watching the H3 podcast and you know what i’m not going to do? replace it with another too long podcast.
when i get rid of a shirt i don’t need to get a new shirt.
purging is good and doesn’t need to be followed up by more consumption
