I love that this is becoming more mainstream in recent years. It makes these animals vastly more interesting and complex than they already were. The connection between dinosaurs and birds feels all the more meaningful and apparent, and opens the door to interpreting their behavior and dynamics- we have their living relatives today to learn from. Also, it is cute.

this could be so stupid and silly but why does no one assume they had fur? like a kangaroo sort of texture

choc_orange A couple of reasons; There is fossil evidence for all types of feathers; some having thick plumage, others having sparse thin tiny feathers, similar to fine hairs, and others having scaly skin. Fur/hair as we know it is unique to mammals, and mammalian ancestors (called synapsids). Dinosaurs are birds, with reptilian ancestors (called archosaurs). So they’re totally different lineages, who evolved totally different traits over hundreds of millions of years. So expecting fur is like expecting an apple to be an orange. That said, the feathers that dinosaurs had could have served the same purpose as fur, being for warmth, or fluffy like down feathers. Sorry if this is a lot to read! I love dinosaurs.

Birds. Bugs. Angels. I just connected the dots as to why I like them so much. It’s the wings. Wings are one of the most beautiful things you can imagine. And when you see something naturally winged it is even more mesmerizing.

apparently velociraptors looked closer to like a fucked up turkey/vulture thing rather than the reptilian monster-like guys we’ve seen in movies 🤯

Out of all the birds, this one is the most dinosaur-shaped I've seen.

Physical cosmology is my favorite bundle of pages to dive into on wikipedia; the articles are so dense with math that I don’t understand and theories that are so weird and out-there. It reminds me that I don’t know everything, and that there is so so much to know and learn about and so much more out there that has yet to be discovered.  Some highlights for me are The Ultimate Fate of the Universe, which is about theories on how the universe will end, and the Shape of the Universe, which seems like a silly thing to question but is actually a really complicated topic. It makes you think about geometry and space in a different way, and kind of breaks your brain a little bit.

If you mix tumeric powder with olive oil it makes a paste that you can put on the bite a couple times for like an hour. It is an anti-inflammatory and over a couple days should help pain and swelling. I think garlic has similar effects too!
