I THINK I NEED TO BECOME A HIGH SCHOOL SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER

This realization is crazy and I’m trying to swallow my short lived pride/ego that I was going to be the first person in my family to get a PhD and accomplish something in academia but. I think. I think. I think that this is the road to a meaningful life. I want to give something to society and realistically this will be giving way more than being a professor ever would.. SORRYYYY it’s true. For me at least
Academia is a self aggrandizing echo chamber of people who ride the curtails of their predecessors who were actually radical members of society but now they cruise along as if their writing about the societal issues is just as radical as doing something about it. But they’re comfy asf in their home offices and like to feel good when about themselves when they pathologize non-elite behaviors for elite consumption.
Hard hard hard pill to swallow for me here but a high school social studies teacher is miles more impactful and important than another person with a sociology PhD. Fml
But I’m working class so that life is was never mine to claim anyways. It was fun to pretend for a second though
I think I would be a good teacher. I know I would be. Maybe I know I will be. We don’t have to be Great to be great

I’ve always wanted to be a teacher and I always said I’ll figure what grade and concentration when I’m older!
Now I’m going to college with a major in Art Education ❤️

learning stuff🧠

i love knowledge. getting to absorb information and interact with other students and professors in an environment dedicated to that is really wonderful i think. do i think the education system is good, no i do not. where i live it's run like a business and education should be free. regardless, i'm going to be so sad when i'm not in school anymore lowkey. posting this while i’m in class rn btw
