I wanted the Moschino question mark coat for ages, but it rarely pops up for sale and is perpetually out of my price range, so I made my own version. I haven’t worked with faux fur outside of a Halloween costume and it’s been a while since I’ve made a jacket or drafted a pattern, but I was pleasantly surprised how well it turned out. I’ve been sewing for almost 15 years, though sometimes I’d have long periods of not sewing anything - feeling uninspired or frustrated by failure or just being busy with some other hobby or practice. At one point I wasn’t even sure if I could still call myself a designer because it had been so long since I had made anything. But it’s nice to realize that the skills that you learn don’t really ever leave you, they’re just peacefully hibernating in the background, ready to come back when you need them. I’m trying to sew one thing a month this year, it feels comforting in the same way it does to reconnect with a friend from the past.

do not become a pattern maker under any circumstances though unless you’re a borderline masochist who is down to stand and draw small lines over & over all day. i question so many life decisions
but this was sparked by how i felt trying on the latest fadepants samples for our new cut today, like damn these really reminded me how amazing clothes can make you feel when you get it right. like wow i’ve wanted these jeans for so long and now i have them because i have the best job and work with the best dude where we just grind until something like this comes out. give me 2 months before i want something completely different though

I have thought about this at length, I fear.
I want to look and feel at ease in my clothes and I shop for clothing very intentionally. For me the rules of outfits are:
- No single-designer looks
- Steam/press rarely
- No logos (sneakers are the exception)
- Always wear at least 1 garment with visible wear or damage
- Get dressed intentionally every day
- It does not matter how conventionally flattering the look is. I care only about how it makes me feel in my body
- Never clean Ur (my) shoes except to keep leather in condition
I shop almost exclusively second hand and in person—I only buy if I would be heartbroken to come back for a garment to find it had passed me by forever. Most pieces I see are effectively one-offs because I treat them this way.
I am attracted to Japanese workwear silhouettes, modular garments, and drama. “My” colour is the shade precisely between yellow and orange. All my jewelry is gifted. I aim to keep garments until the end of their lives.

Every time I look something up on Google images, more and more of the results are AI slop. It’s lit a fire under me to collect more books - been looking at the art & fashion sections of used book stores and building up my library. It‘s also nice to have a finite source to seek inspiration from rather than getting caught in an infinite scroll.

I love hot pot so much that I bought a zojirushi one for home. Perfect for having friends over or for group trips, everyone brings their favorite veggies & meats and you cook and yap the night away.
