https://open.spotify.com/track/55E0iwwaRXZ3cneyi9ECnp?si=c8758de3c31f4979 Felt like ever since I first heard this track it kinda came in unison with a toxic cycle I'm finally leaving - growing up being who I am I always felt if I reacted too much to things people would freak out and perceive me completely wrong. Now I don't care because to be authentically me attracts me than the version of me I have to play to please others.

judah & the lion -- this album came out right when I was working in a semi-toxic workplace and one of my coworkers started to have a breakdown. For him especially the job was deeply unhealthy and toxic. He was a guy who always hid his issues and pain, thought the only acceptable pathway was to cover up and put on a brave face and say that everything was good and he was always okay. There was shame in admitting weakness or failure or confusion. But things got to be too much and started to spill out and thank goodness he opened up—with me and a couple others—about the depression, suicidal thoughts, childhood trauma, and decade of stuffing it down. This song was cathartic for all of us at the time: permission granted to be real. Epilogue to the story above: he quit the toxic job, started getting help, and ever since has been on a journey of open authenticity. Great song!

I love when someone sings like they're about to cry, and Olivia Rodrigo has this down to a science. She starts most of her torch songs almost whimpering before they crescendo into the vocal equivalent of someone heaving and sighing. This version is special. My body physically reacted when I first heard it—the way the atmosphere echoes and amplifies each tearful run. The sadness doesn’t just sit; it flickers, then soars and crashes like a swell. The song tumbles through this newly built ambience, breaking apart before pulling itself back together. Our Piscean vocalist is all water—rippling, drowning, caught in the undertow of her own tears.

Ironically the year anew has me reflecting on the past like im somehow gonna scrounge up a couple bucks in change if i would just look hard enough… I need to surrender to life and it’s tendency to continue . Little music as of late has been guiding me through this endeavor, I feel sentenced to nothing but what I’ve always known . A prison of my own making! Just the same old songs and the same old albums and the same old me . How do I alleviate stagnancy when it’s possessing my very being.  I need new music. And I quit smoking and gave up the whole quitting thing after a month. God have mercy..

What I really enjoy so far with Perfectly Imperfect is its humility and presentation - I feel like these last 4-5 years platforms like Instagram, twitter (Will never call it x fuck you elon!) and even Tiktok to an extent feels like dead internet and I feel like the most important thing about being online is being as authentic to you as possible. I live by a code " to deem one as cringe is truly cringe themselves" or like the platform says perfectly imperfect :)
