I know a book is good if I’m tearing up. And this one did just that. Very sad. Very beautiful. Very heartbreaking. Written from the a journaling perspective of the main character who’s mentally disabled and becomes the perfect candidate for a surgery that allows him to be a functioning member to society and experience life from a new perspective.

I read the short story in middle school for a class and every single time I spent too much time thinking about it for like 2 weeks I would be inconsolable. 10/10

I think I had to read this for school at some point when I was a teenager, but it reeeeally hit me hard. The book was written using a coded system of blinks- the author would blink to indicate the next letter, employing the help of a third party to transcribe. It is the memoir of a man who had a massive stroke and a result, suffered from ā€œlocked-in syndromeā€ [biting my hand not to make a tasteless joke about being absolutely locked in], and therefore couldn’t speak or move much. My dad had a similarly severe stroke when I was 10 and was also unable to speak and had very limited movement, so reading this book gave me much-needed hope that my dad was ā€œstill in there,ā€ so to speak, and was just a pretty gorgeous triumph of will, and very sad as well. I remember the movie also making me cry a lot

this book fit my specific interests very well. It follows two young soldiers and their relationship throughout WWI. It was quite beautiful imo

This book is a chronicle of the author’s life in the year after her husband unexpectedly passes away while their daughter is in a coma. I also happened to read this at a time in my life when I had recently: a.) gotten married b.) learned a friend was dying Seems like a bummer from the summary above, and the content is definitely heavy, but this book really spoke to me at a time in my life when I was feeling a little lost amidst some big life changes. I recommend it to a lot of my friends after they get married - there’s some really great reflections on how amazing it is to share your life with someone, and the ways that you’ll miss them when they’re gone.Ā  I’d always enjoyed reading, but this was the first time that I experienced one of those magical moments when a piece of literature, a movie, etc. can line up perfectly with your life and help you work through some of the things that are happening to and around you.Ā

Such a fan of hearing older men nerd out about astronomy and the moon One guy had a contraption that connected to his telescope and allowed you to see through the lens of your phone. got this photo of our stunning gal in her full glory with craters out and all. 🄹 Love being reminded of how tiny and finite we are.

went to my roommates boyfriendā€˜s art show last minute and did not regret. Definitely didn’t know what I was getting myself into and despite my exhaustion peaking 15 min into our time at the gallery i very much enjoyed it. 100 artists had their artwork featured in various fridge doors. Very beautiful concept.

been unemployed for the last 7 months due to burnout and health issues and although I was financially prepared to be unemployed for 5mo. I’ve spent the past 3mo aggressively job hunting and every interview I’ve had (about 10-15 of them) have been depleting my self esteem. however. I have a renewed sense of hope and anticipation for the right opportunity to cross my path and todays pre-interview moment was spent affirming myself and taking a selfie to remind myself that ā€˜I am indeed that bitchā€˜ and anyone would be lucky to have me as their employee.
