this video is incredible… god it makes me want to sob until my eyes bleed because of how beautiful it is. first off, ichiko aoba is one of my favorite artists ever. although i dont understand japanese(and therefore do not understand what she is singing about a majority of the time), her musical arrangements and melodies feel like ten soft fingers massaging my brainfolds like UGHFHHHHHHhh…. her music is just mesmerizing. anyway, this music video seems to be the visual first teaser among three singles preceding her upcoming album ā€œLuminescent Creaturesā€. the shots are so masterfully curated, every one earning its own artful moment in the video. the colors, the grain, the cuts, the camerawork, the visual effects, the song, everything hits extraordinarily i can’t recommend it enough.

Ichiko aoba is so masterful with her lyricism and melody writing, it all ties together cohesively into an image or story or whatever she’s conveying. this new album of hers is genuinely one of her bests (along with qp). I feel like I’m swimming with jellyfish and glittery sea stars, or I’m walking thru a post-apocalypse world alone.. delicious delicious delicious delicious

this is one of my favorite albums ever — very lush and vivid, yet also sparse and delicate at the same time in keeping with aoba’s usual style. lots of gorgeous field recordings (yay ocean sounds!) and sweeping orchestral arrangements if i recall correctly it was conceived of by aoba as a soundtrack of sorts for a (fictional, non-existent) film about a girl with psychic powers who gets exiled to the island Adan. the wildlife welcome her but then die because they have such short lives. she also soon dies but gets reincarnated as multiple different creatures. very interesting and beautiful stuff

some time last year on a road trip, i came across Fievel Is Glauque. ā€œwhat the fuck is a Fievel?ā€ i asked hnyre, to which he responded ā€œy’know, that one cartoon mouseā€œ(i’d never seen it). after listening to their song Hit Me Now, i fell in love with their rough production style combined with the wacky rhythmic and harmonic jazz bullshit you’d hear music nerds audibly orgasm over. though, sometimes with that irregular music riff-raff, you ought to pair it with sounding like you recorded your album inside a comical rusty garbage can with a single mic(iā€˜m overcompensating), which Fievel Is Glauque does amazingly with their record ā€œGod’s Trashmen Sent to Right the Messā€. listened to the entire thing right after i found the first song. had 0 skips from me! their new single that’s preceding the next album drop is also pretty incredible, in which it seems like the trash men have righted the mess with a much ā€œcleanerā€ sound this time around. gotta say, i also just love french singing. no wonder why Pomplamoose has a new viral video every other moon

i’ve seen this movie twice now, and although some scenes are awfully hard to watch, the camerawork and symbolism is amazing. it’s masterfully written with both high intensity and comedic moments. if you can handle blood and guts and body horror vfx, you need to watch this film. i would say that the first watch felt very long, but watching it again definitely gave me another perspective.
