i’ve been listening to nts a lot these days while working and yet again ended up falling into this 11-track daydream of first love nostalgia. so many great songs with a beautiful story behind them. (i promise this rec has nothing to do with the fact that i made one of the songs in it — that’s just a bonus 👹)

Older + Walk Me Home — Searows We’re In Love — boygenius The Night We Met — Lord Huron & Phoebe Bridgers State Lines — Novo Amor Jacob and the Stone — Emile Mosseri I think I tear up whenever music has a connection to heartbreak or loss or resentment. It’s weird (and beautiful) to know we get to partake in someone’s process of healing through a song they shared. It’s a brief moment of connection across the universe.

I heard a lot of love songs yesterday, or some mixes at least interpreting love and Valentine’s Day and the like. This came on in the car and brought tears to my eyes. Love can be thick and sweeping, and surviving so much. Sometimes it’s like you’re alone in it all unless you remember to look at each other and live out the end of this world together. I attached a yt video because the comments always get me. Double recommend reading through them while listening.

"I like you," he told me on a starry night in Mexico. "And I think we'd be great together. Until we go home." I went back to my hotel room, too overwhelmed by the idea that a man would be interested in me, even if just for two weeks. I took my phone out on the balcony and listened to Affair with the Moon by Lidia Solomon on repeat. The whole thing between him and me ended in disaster, but for a brief moment, anything seemed possible, like the beginning of a fairytale. Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed at night, by big thoughts and bigger feelings, I open my window and listen to Affair with the Moon. And for a brief, melancholic moment, anything will seem possible again.

i decided to spend my birthday last year in patagonia because i wanted to go on an adventure and see beautiful things. the initial plan was to go to antarctica but that didn’t work out so i decided to go to as close to the end of the world as i could. it’s really one of those trips that make you believe in the glorious mysteries of life. exploring the wilderness while listening to black marble’s ‘it’s immaterial’ was wonderful.
