I feel the struggle. I too am in college with a lot of friends birthdays coming up. 9/10 I let them know I have thought of what to get them but let them know that money is tight and say it might be late. And then i go out and buy kids cards, especially ones with like the numbers on them and just add on to it, so like say i have a friend turning 23, I'd get them either a card for a 2 year old and draw a three on there or a card for a 3 year old and tack a two to the front. Double the point if it comes with a cheep sticker, coloring pages, a plastic key chain, or deconstruct the card to make something out of the card. So far this method hasn't failed and has given plenty of laughs and impromptu phone calls when it arrives in the mail!

ever been in a bind where itโ€™s your friendโ€™s birthday and you donโ€™t have a card yet? and then you have to go to cvs or target for a silly card thatโ€™s obviously last minute. what if instead you buy the perfect card once you see it?? $20 now is money saved later. or just keep the card for yourself. who cares!!!

Find happiness in the little things. Bask in the sun rise, take a moment to people watch grocery shopping or a cafe. Go on drives to nowhere in particular with your favorite playlist blasting. Read plays to a stuff animal audience and really dramatize the characters.

I read a book about volcanos growing up and that stuck with me for suck a long time, then i read my grandpas old astrology book and i very much remember how upset i was when they announced Pluto wasn't classified as a planet anymore and i was set to be the one to give Pluto back its title. Now ironically I study marine science, and im currently in school to now look at underwater volcanos and hydro thermal vents, which have some similar chemical components to that of what is in space so i guess it balanced out.

We have one dying strip mall in this town and my friends and I just go there to wonder the few open stores left. We don't by anything we just peruse the places, make small talk with the shop keepers, sit and chat about the closed down shops on the benches. I also frequent the antique stores, and just look at the history thats brought in. Sometimes the store keeper drops by while you look and offer facts on some of the items. They get me out of the house and keep my mind off work and they're sometimes more accommodating than a coffee shop.
