recently I watched a youtube video by a creator named āBandsplainedā about a small genre called ālibrary musicā its all session music from the generally the 70s-90s, all recorded and sold to music libraries for films and whatever else the public wants to do with it. the playlist attached to this video holds some really solid stand outs, and it makes me feel very peaceful, itās like because this music was made without names attached, and never meant for stardom, it was made with some egoless purity for the love of the game. a very odd blend of mass appeal and boundary pushing experimentation is achieved in some of these tracks, and in giving up its own desires as music to be known, it massages the listeners mind to achieve smooth and seamless inspiration. often, music inspires by presenting its artist as an idol of extreme talent and mind, the achieving of which is like fucking a mountain. This is useful and beautiful too, but it can lend itself to the feeling of overwhelming competitiveness, and could leave the listener burnt out in the flames of the artists greatness.
