i never used to be someone who cared about waking up early to watch the sunrise. or looked out the window if there was a pretty sunset. but for my friends birthday, she really wanted to go to a lookout to watch the sunset. i obviously went because it was her birthday. if it wasn’t her birthday, i would’ve said now. old me couldn’t care less about the sun setting. but new me has a new appreciation for it. i never thought that watching the sun go down would make me sad. in the moment, i was wishing for the sunsetting process to go slower so i could take it in for longer.

they make my friends more beautiful (if that’s even possible).
they slow down my life, to sit in the syrupy warmth of a sunset while I think or eat or drink or chat
so much scope and vastness all contained in one beautiful, colourful sprawl that feels as though it’s only for me

appreciating every moment with the sun as a desert raised girl living in the pnw, the early sunrises and late sunsets really do it for me this time of year 🌞

i’m a coffee hater to my core. so this is such a weird response. but i was sitting at friends work the other day (a coffee shop) and the smell of coffee getting grounded and a latte getting made brought genuine joy to me in that moment. it’s weird.
