i've known tinashe's music for, 10 years now? anyways, when i was a teen, i was a big fan of loreena mckennitt, sopor aeternus and other medieval-esque acts. what many ppl don't seem to figure when listening to tinashe is how her melodies are deeply influenced by medieval folk music. mainly the music that came from the moors or whatever, those who aren't afraid to dwindle between minor chords (i don't even know if chords were a thing back then, i'm using this to signal what i'm talking about). I love the very beginning where Treason becomes a folk song, as it should be. I love that she chose to perform Unconditional, which is my favorite track from 333. I love how the percussionists incorporates the Rhythm of Give It To Me by Timabaland on 2 On and i love how it sounds.

Something about Chromakopia by Tyler, the Creator gives this a mature and jazz feel to it. I couldn’t help but bop my head at every rhythm this man put into this album. Especially with this track with Lola Young. Having a breakout artist on your track is so refreshing to see and will make me definitely stream her music going forward!

Slow Train Coming, Saved, Shot of Love All pretty good to great. People get caught up on some weird production choices, and the in-your-face sincerity. And maybe there are moments of condescension and righteous anger.… but I’m not religious and I think “Every Grain of Sand,” and “Pressing On” are some of the best things he ever wrote. Plus I really love “Heart of Mine”

my friend recommended his song “Carthage” to me a couple years ago and since then, his name’s been on my radar but i never really took the time to properly dive into his discography until tonight. the weather getting cooler here has me craving the lush and warm sonic landscape of guitar music and this album is just what i’ve been looking for. it’s some of the most magical music i’ve heard in a long time… i also recommend wholeheartedly thanking your friends for music recommendations that you really resonate with, even if you listen to it years after they recommend it, and even if thanking them sounds or seems sappy. recommending music is such a special and sacred thing and i always like to hear when someone connects with something i‘ve sent them, whether i talk to this person every day or once every few years. sharing music is choosing to love and we should spread that love all around, all the time <3

first of all, such a shame this had to happen in your life. i can't even get close to imagining the pain this separation might've brought you. anyhow, the tips below might be useful for you (as they've been useful for me) :) 1. allow yourself to connect with your body while you're feeling low. the physical sensations that are contiguous to these emotions might help you identify 'em whenever they emerge. 2. allow yourself to live with such feelings/sensations while they last. letting them sit with you is easier said than done, but that's the 1st step to self soothing 3. find ways to soothe yourself while those feelings are sat within you. it's like "ok, i'm feeling (bad feeling), let me concentrate on that, let me breathe, my thoughts are prolly gonna be contaminated by it, hence why i shall not take said thoughts into account" and many other strategies that only you will be able to pull off, as you know yourself better than anyone. 4. always remind yourself that feelings, no matter how intense they might be... how ever engulfing, suffocating, enveloping they might be... are deciduous. 5. the role your friend played in your life might not be occupied as of now, and it might not be ever again... but trust the proccess. you'll grow around that shard of your life just fine. i'll sincerely wish for your wellbeing. :)
