The writing is so good and the characters are flawed and well developed. Maybe just watch an episode of pepper pig after, that always helps.

📺Really truly baffled/annoyed at the lack of attention this show is getting.. everyone should be talking about this. Could be triggering to some, so read up and tread lightly if you think itd hit too hard. But I really was blown away at the bravery of Richard Gadd (who wrote this based on his own experience/life and played himself/a character of himself…!!) and was crying sooo bad at the last two episodes … so utterly devastating, confusing, a shock to the system, but to me that definitely falls into the category of good TV. Especially these days where I feel Netflix shows are .. what you’d expect Netflix shows to be. So fucking good ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

re-upping this rec now that the series finale dropped: this show is a masterpiece. i often see asks on here along the lines of "how do i stay hopeful in the face of the destruction of the world around me," and i am not shitting you at all when i say that - for well over a year now - this show and its ideas have been an enormous part of how i still find it in myself to have hope despite it all.
it is a dark, brutal show, but its brutality exists to underscore the show's absolutely unshakable faith in the indomitability of the human spirit, the fragility of tyranny, and the revolutionary power of love. do not get scared away by the "star wars" of it all - if you have ever struggled to stay the course when faced with the weight of the world's horrors, you absolutely need to watch this show. it tells a timeless story that is essential for our time.

🦋Might not be enjoyed by everyone, with how it is heavily gory, crude and with main characters who are stupid a lot of the time. But for others like me, that’s hilarious and I love the way that James Gunn manages to balance that with great character development and emotion, as well as a very engaging story where each episode ends on a big cliffhanger. Haven’t had this much fun watching a series in a while!
