the app/website "eternal family" is fairly new and i found an animation i scoured the internet for years ago n couldnt find on there. i even looked at the site i just posted on my last rec. but this app.... omg. short films/animation/stop moption/full movies...... yes $10 a month is a lot to me too but to just commit to one month n set a reminder to cancel the subscription has been so worth it to me, imma subscribe another month. ive never heard of 98% of the media on here and its all beautiful and inspirational. i might cancel a diff streaming service just to validate myself into keeping this one. wow

$7/month streaming platform with obscure old and new video work. Some of my favorite comedians have been involved in shows (Conner O’Malley, Joe Castle Baker), and they just added a great Brian Eno doc.

using this platform has really made me appreciate the antiquated internet a lot more than i used to. i’m sure a lot of users here feel the same way, so here’s a few streaming services that have a similar experience to this one in my opinion. night flight specializes in bringing back the eighties feel of mtv and vh1, the service offers a more music oriented direction with a few odds and ends thrown into the mix. midnight pulp is a bit more generic as it features a good helping of b-movies, horror flicks, and offbeat animated films. my favorite by far however, has got to be eternal family. while eternal family is similar to midnight pulp, i feel that it’s a lot more curated than the latter. you can find everything from italian giallo to czech new wave to retro anime, and even some really interesting shorts and features that fall on the artistic side. midnight pulp specializes more into trash cinema while eternal family is more art house and experimental films, but still features classic b-movie fare and shitty vintage anime too. they even offer a handful of original programming from the likes of kerwin frost, mac demarco, and jerry paper. eternal family is my favorite because it goes out of it’s way to create a specific identity that makes it stand out from the rest (also has very good brand identity from a graphic designer’s pov). honestly, it’s inspired me to try and start up my own public access style show somewhere down the line, where i showcase strange videos and weird films that i’ve collected myself. go check out all three if you’re looking for entertainment that’s outside the bounds of corporate entities like netflix or hulu.

I only had it for three months but I found lots of movies that I wouldn’t have seen otherwise. I also like that, while there’s some movies from Hollywood, they prioritize recs of independent and foreign movies. The only reason I cancelled was because I had too many subscriptions already. The offer at the time was too ridiculous not to take. Once it passed, I cancelled but overall I thought it was a good experience.

ive only ever met one person irl thats had interest in them and it was an ex:( i didnt have interest for a long time either. then i realized its not just marvel and dc stuff.(love that too) but theres ones about witchcraft, i found one about this widely unknown female superhero who uses natures elements! vampires, a character n series about death, sex, so many. endless topics, endless media. some are 50 cents at your local shop. nobody realizes how great comic media consumption can be anymore
