This is an incredible read if you're into abolitionist/reconstructionist reimagining's of the world post‐technological/economic de-growth. It is comforting to imagine beautiful futures, and to read about what it feels like to find companionship at a vulnerable time.

Weird, poignant freaky sci-fi. I just read the first book (Dawn) and immediately went and got the second one. Just ignore the cover designs that don't match the tone of the books at all

her brand of science fiction, specifically parable of the sower, speech sounds, and some of her other more grounded work is precisely what you're looking for i think. her genius is that while most of the sci-fi preceding her written by white men created far-flung worlds and futures to explore current questions, butler flipped the whole genre on it's head by interrogating the near-future as a consequence of the present and still calling it sci-fi because it still met all of the heuristics for the genre parable of the sower will break your brain in a terrifying, constantly-looking-over-your-shoulder and never-looking-at-stuff-the-same way but perhaps now more than ever that is a testament to her genius as a writer

The crunch of snow below my feet and the wonder of tiny tracks dotting the surface? Magical. I do not love the cold but getting to the top of a mountain in winter makes enduring the temperature so worth it.

Echoing the value of rest💗 consider the 7 types of rest and see what areas might feel nice for you to incorporate into your day/week rn. There are some great tools out there (esp. if therapy or doctors visits are inaccessible or just not the right path for you) to support mental health or creative practices. Some free/web available resources I trust are The Artists Way by Julia Cameron (caveat that this has some chat about spirituality, and for some folks that may not be a great fit, but super useful otherwise), Thinking Traps Tutorial by Dr. Raquel Martin or any of her free resources really, and symptom journaling generally. Would be glad to share both wider or more specific reccs if desired. And just know it takes time but it's not forever that you'll feel dispassionate. Sending lots of gentleness and warmth to you.

Love this app, it's wonderful, thanks for your work! Some color themes make it difficult to see whether you've liked/starred something or not (like the star looks yellow before you've clicked it and when you do, it's tough to know if it's been properly selected). It would be awesome to tweak the color pallette of the pre-like/star state on those themes.
