it’s like an open portal where people from different worlds cross paths for a brief moment, likely never to meet again. all of us with our own special little book that lets us see the world. it is an out of body experience when you really think about how every single one of these people are living and breathing individuals with their own lives and families and struggles and loves, just like yourself—but all experiencing it in a different part of the world. and you are just a brief passing moment in their lives, a background character they won’t remember, or never even noticed in the first place.

I'm with you 100%! I don't love flying but I love airports and, everytime I'm there, I cannot not listen to "Music for airports" by Brian Eno. It really enhances the whole experieces. I feel like lost in world and time that are "in between". Also, there's this really interesting book by Marc Augè "Non Places" (I don't know if you know it) that in a way explains why places like airports, train station ecc. are perceived like this.

why does it feel like you are travelling through space and time. How are we flying? have planes been taken for granted?
