i see really cool/ funny/ smart people and 90% of the time they just follow me back straight away. it’s one of the joys of not having a big following — you can make more friends with strangers! i think the art of that is lost with influencer culture, because why would you follow a ‘fan’ back straight away (particularly when you have 50k plus of them?) also i’m a ‘rising user’ after posting like 6 times which gives me a huge ego boost. when i want a cig and i‘m tipsy ill walk up to the smoking area and if there’s someone who looks friendly and cool i’ll say ‘you know how we’ve known each other our whole lives? you know how we’re long lost friends? please can i have a cig?’ and they’re so baffled by it that it a) mostly always works and b) makes them want to keep talking to you because of your strange and bold behaviour
