still in college right now. i grew up with parents i felt were pretty strict so being able to move away was good and bad. with such a new sense of freedom i kind of lost it and partied more than i could handle. my grades took a tumble, but i was the happiest i had ever been. obviously, my parents were not happy with that and i really had lock in on academics. although this new party lifestyle kind of caused a unnecessary amount of stress, i wouldn't change how i handled this at all. through this whirlwind of nights out, i met my closest friends and really discovered myself. my university has a large music scene and most of the parties i went to were also house shows. while i have severely grown out of the crazy partying, i still end up at these functions as a photographer for the artists or clubs throwing the events! i wouldn't have discovered my passion for photography without exploring the music scene the way when i first got here.

ive met a few people been to some parties and been involved in drama within the past nine-ish months i’ve been in college and these are my thoughts:
- (when it comes to people my age) everyone is the same as how they were in high school. no one’s really grown or mature, it’s just high school part two with less restrictions.
- alcohol isn’t really that cool anymore, i never liked drinking and im liking it less and less. Who i’m looking for at parties are the queers in the smoke circle….
- people who you think are cool are much more socially awkward and insecure than you think (and probably more than you!)
- you will get more queer due to abundance of exposure as compared to your red state hometown
Overall college is pretty chill and thank god for graduating high school

Im aslo in my senior year and its definitely been a wild ride. Though most if that ride was me being an overachiever and burning out midway and having to learn its okay to take it slow I don't have to achieve everything so early on.
I lucked out and was able to get an off campus apartment and not have to stay in the dorms my entire time at school, so that saved me a lot of money and really allowed me to, I think enjoy college more because i was able to do my own thing and have my own space.
I've made a lot of new friends in the last few years and some friendships I think are going to live past the convenience of being in college and same department.
I think over all it was a rough start but by the end of it here overall it was worth it and I've had a great time!

Why is this such a lost art? Bring together those friends that would never have met other wise. Make the people you love, love each other.
I recently had a small birthday wine n dine with my friends and anticipated awkwardness between my different groups of friends, but it was the complete opposite. God I love my friends and love making a space for them to mingle and laugh in eeeee. I think in a time where my friends and I are transitioning to adulthood and focusing on careers, this brings something to look forward to and a way to create a world outside of work and study.
