GOING TO LOCAL GIGS

feeling under the weather these past few days but i’ve planned to go to a gig in the city this weekend so I have something to look forward to. There are ALWAYS cheap independent gigs around where I live and it’s genuinely the best way to spend a night out. So this is your sign to look around at posters, online, on noticeboards for local gigs because the energy is always unmatched. (Also lwk been stalking the insta page of this artist and they seem so cool, this might be a way to introduce myself 🤞)

live music!!

the best community i have found is in the local music scene where i live. all of my friends are either in bands or are there to support their friends and their music. even if you’re not super into music, there’s still so much community in going out to shows and events to meet people you might not have met otherwise. genuinely some of the most authentic connections and friendships i have are with people i met in at diy shows in backyards. it’s worth a shot to just go to a show alone and see who you meet!!

THROWING SHOWS FOR FUN

local music scenes often suck because everyones trying to sell you something. A band is trying to get tiktok famous, a promoter is trying to make money, clout has poisoned the well that art drinks from. Just find a spot, ask friends to bring amps and drums, tell everyone to get there at 7 and listen to your buddies play music. literally anyone can do it. it can be alot to manage and be responsible for but its worth it
