On average we live to see about 80ish winters. Why are we only waiting until summer to feel the happiness we deserve. We should experience happiness no matter the temperature outside or no matter if the sun is shining. There are so many amazing things to do in the winter and we shouldn’t wait for the second half of the year to finally be happy. So my rec is to find enjoyment in every season, because you never know when it will be your last!

I feel like people who actively dislike winter struggle with being grateful for the present. They are always looking forward to the "next thing" - spending the whole week waiting for friday, whole winter waiting for summer, whole year waiting for the next year - waiting their life away. Life becomes so much more wonderful once we live for the here and now instead of tomorrow. It is up to ourselves if we choose to take the most of the moment we have been given or not... snow is gonna be there anyway.

The other seasons are so easy for me to love but I have always hated winter. This year I am trying to acknowledge the beauty and peace of this season. I’m so grateful to experience each season of the year

Most of the time, when I’m mad about something, I’ll think back on it months later and be like “wait why did I even care about that?” We should collectively all try that with Winter. The air smells so fucking good. Like where is that mystery campfire coming from?? I feel like every time I step outside and take a breath, I level up. I get that you think you don’t like the cold. It took me a while to understand that “acquired taste” means a taste that I can STILL acquire. Now when I don’t like food, I just eat it until I do. This January, when your unadjustable New York apartment heat is cranked so high that you can smell the lead paint melting off the walls, take a step outside onto your stoop for a breath of that crispy ass chimney-scented air, and remember DBG sent you there.

I haven't worn a headband in ages, but today I threw one on and instantly felt like a different person. I felt like people knew I wasn't a headband kinda person, but I lowkey rocked it. Feels good to switch things up every once in a while.

I finally started getting back in to the hobbies I once loved. I have spent so long just waking up, going through the motions, and then waiting to fall back asleep again to do it all over the next day. I have found so much enjoyment in spending time doing the things I love. So this is your reminder to pick back up the things that bring you happiness. Whether that be journaling, crocheting, knitting, biking, swimming, people-watching, or any strange thing that makes your heart happy! Don’t just be alive, wake up and actually LIVE the life you want to live.
