I make a solo run to the city every month or so. Usually for a concert, last time was to see Stereophonic (absolutely destroyed me). I find it almost meditative, cathartic to just walk the city without much of a plan aside from the main goal. I think I ate some sort of wrap from a corner store last time. It was a matinee show so I got out and was able to walk until everything ached and I felt better. It always breathes some life back into me after suffering the claustrophobia of home.

I had last Friday off work, and I decided to really treat myself. First, I spent my early afternoon in Greenpoint where I got a mani-pedi (something I haven’t done in years), and a yummy brunch across the street; walked to our favorite stationery store (Yoseka!) and got some little things; took the train to 8th Ave in Manhattan and walked south to the West Village; sat at the Stonewall Memorial for a bit listening to music; went to use the restroom at Stonewall where I stayed for a beer (and made a friend from out of town!); walked to the IFC Center to watch “Armand” (great Norwegian film); finishing off my day with an easy dinner at home. Best day ever in a long time❤️

I love a weekday off where I just go to the met or Bethesda terrace at Central Park or film forum I also recommend stuff like going to city island which is truly a bizarre little island off this island just walking around neighborhoods you never go to idk

I live in Philadelphia and visit nyc sometimes and this is basically what I do, maybe you can adjust it to fit your needs! My personal formula for an nyc day 1 important landmark or activity A few hours sitting, drawing, playing cards or walking outside in a park with a sandwich or drink  1 sit down meal 1 shopping or hole in the wall activity

My god everything is experienced better this way. Stop looking at guides, walkthroughs, endings explained (my least favorite), even the blurbs on the back. Such a rare opportunity in this time to go into something without knowing anything about it, yet so rewarding. To be pleasantly surprised or blown away, to have no idea what’s happening, to find that you really didn’t like it, an opinion formed on your own.. nothing is more valuable
