Went here last April and I loved it. I love history and so first really learned about the gargantuan city through Assassin’s Creed Revelations, where even though it is based hundreds of years in the past I just loved the general vibes and old architecture, which I was so happy to see in the flesh!! The grand bazaar was overrated (though the roof was cool, see image) but the rest of the city was so wonderful. Lovely food, people, history and architecture! The mosques and old churches were beautiful, and their archaeological museum has to be one of the best classical museums I’ve been to. It was right next to a really pretty garden too. So much praise for Istanbul, though it was so busy too even at a quieter period.
