I have mine on a timer. It starts heating my bedroom 20 minutes before my alarm goes off and makes it much easier to get out of bed! I also shower first thing and that warms me through and through, ready to get going.
If you don’t want to get up at a set time, try having the heater within reach from bed and turn it on when you wake up.

don't run your heat like crazy over night, wake up in a warm bed in a house that's in the low 60s, wake up slowly and hang out in your warm bed in your cold room, eventually work up the courage to take the cold plunge and get out of bed, throw on some sweats and a hoodie and open your blinds, play some ambient music and make some fresh coffee while the sun warms your apartment through the windows, light some incense maybe

I use an analog alarm clock at my bedside and a sunrise lamp that makes my body feel like the day has started even tho in the middle of winter on the mid Atlantic she has yet to make an appearance.
drink a glass of water (I recommend a small glass with a lid and straw) before my feet find the floor.
tea + yoga as the sun rise

On days when I don’t have a concrete agenda to plow through I struggle to peel myself out of the sheets. This is what helps me:
- I leave my shades open the night before so my body wakes up with the sun. - I try to keep my room clean. Mostly to avoid the feeling of being “stuck”. - I think of breakfast, & use it to treat myself. The excitement of trying a new recipe or eating something familiar is sometimes enough to catapult me off my mattress. - A nice shower. Steam, music, eucalyptus. Make the experience enjoyable. I’ve been thinking about buying these waterproof lamps to upgrade my shower environment. Ambient light over the big light always.

I’m not sure why, I guess things ending are sad. Here’s a self portrait I made in charcoal. The proportions are wonky but it kinda looks like me!

The occupation persists, the oppression persists, the torture persists.
The occupiers are psychotic and their work is never finished. People who’ve paid attention won’t be surprised by this photo from Gaza.

I’m 50, I say because that makes me unusual in this context. I paid [redacted] for a ticket to the Eras Tour after listening to tswift for 3 weeks, and it was worth it. In second grade my teacher gave kids birthday spankings over her knee, and in sixth grade my teacher told my mom I hadn’t blossomed yet. I’m a good friend, mostly to people on the internet. I’m good at conversing with strangers. I’m usually the oldest person at the show but don’t feel like it. I’m good at being helpful. I’m sarcastic and funny and make myself laugh. I’m a good graphic designer and a conscientious driver. I’m a good photographer and I can successfully follow recipes. I don’t use my Peloton enough. I did a lot of caregiving for my mom for several years, and we enjoyed spending time together even if it was mostly in waiting rooms and my car. The fastest I ever ran a mile was eight minutes and six seconds. I drove the same car for 20 years and then replaced it with another one. I enjoy tipping, giving money to people on the street and Disneyland. I am a fan of baseball, Formula 1 racing and the Criterion Channel. I solve about 80% of New York Times crosswords. I take Prozac and Wellbutrin, and take Trazodone to sleep through the night. I wish I had a glassed in solarium so I could sleep in it on rainy nights. I would like to have a pet cat and a garage. I could happily live eating only cereal and fruit. I overshare on the internet and undershare elsewhere. ✌️💛
