okay i actually changed mine a couple days ago and swapped out everything everywhere all at once for moulin rouge cause i havent seen eeaao for a couple years and i love moulin rouge recently it’s not really in order but bottoms first i loveeeeeee this film its so film, the cast is AMAZING and i’ve seen it quite a few times and it never gets old i swear i just love it so much next is the holdovers which i just love everything about, firstly i love the setting in the 70s and the whole aesthetic of it with the snow and brownish colour palette ugh, the characters are all so endearing and it’s like an unexpected found family that just touches my heart next is moulin rouge which i actually only watched for the first time last year but i’m OBSESSED it’s the craziest and most dramatic film with such loud and beautiful visuals that i love so much, it makes me laugh so much cause of the silliness and how fast paced it is with all the luhrmann style cuts last is i saw the tv glow which is just so beautiful, have to say i was slightly confused the first time i watched it but after watching some youtube analysis videos i appreciated the film so much more, there’s so many parts of this film that i love like the soundtrack and overall message so ofc in the top 4
don’t judge that most of them are from the last few years lol what can i say butttt i do have a longer list of my favourite films thaf i might post about with explanations and it’s slightly more diverse with eras but yas

I feel like I've been seeing the same 10 movies recommended online over and over again, so here's a few very random movies I've watched in the past few months. Not all of these movies are particularly incredible or the best movies ever made, many aren't even among my personal favorites... but they span decades and sub-genres and are perfect if you, like me, are interested in branching out and seeing what you like!
pls drop some of your random recs below!!! :)
(also, this is derived from a letterboxd list i have, so feel free to follow me on there or whateverrrrr)
Here they are in no particular order, with some general vibe-descriptors:
If you like ...
Gothic romance: The Crow (1994), streaming on Paramount+ The Hunger (1983), available to rent and sadly not streaming for free anywhere rn but is usually on Max around halloween!
Female friendships and minimal conflict: Linda Linda Linda, or リンダ リンダ リンダ (2005), on DailyMotion Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), available to rent
Something simply beautiful: The Fall (2006), on Mubi
'What the fuck?' Movies: Cool World (1992), available to rent Repo Man (1984), available to rent Tammy and the T-Rex (1994), free on Tubi, Roku, and Pluto TV
Something heartwarming in an unexpected way: Tokyo Godfathers (2003) dir. Satoshi Kon, on Amazon Prime, or free on Roku and Pluto TV
Gay Yearning: Maurice (1987) dir. James Ivory, free on Tubi
Hilarious Women: Shampoo (1975), available to rent Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003), available to rent Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), unfortunately a little hard to find online but there are ways... Postcards from the Edge (1990), free on Tubi Night is Short, Walk on Girl (2017), on Max
That's all I feel like for now lol. As you'll see on the letterboxd list I've got a few more so if ppl like this I'll post more! Pls share some of your own :))))

I’m limiting myself to 10 to be sensible and these are subject to frequent and unpredictable change. Tried to do a range of genres and a few well beloved directors. I hope you find as much joy in cinema as I have!
Howls Moving Castle - when you say you’ve seen nothing, does this mean no ghibli? There’s a whole load of Studio Ghibli films that are amazing, this is my comfort Film.
Jennifer’s Body - essential bisexual cult cinema. never met a man who likes it, never met a woman who doesn’t
It Follows - possibly my favourite ever horror movie.
Four Lions - Probably my favourite comedy ever, very British, very brilliant
Arrival - one of only two times a film has given me the feeling of the sublime in the same way seeing the alps did.(the other one is The Green Knight, consider this a sneaky Rec for that too) Beautiful sci-fi.
The Virgin Suicides - Arguably Sofia Coppola’s best film.
The Big Lebowski - my favourite Coen Brother’s film (I have Maud tattooed on me). fun and hugely well loved.
Only Lovers Left Alive - Jim Jarmusch is a must watch director, this and Paterson are my faves. Tilda Swinton and TI’m Hiddleston play sexy vampires.
Ocean’s 11 - very vocal about my love for heist films, and this is the cream of the crop

i have been obsessed with simon and garfunkel as of late. i don’t think they have ever made a bad song or album, but sounds of silence is by far my favorite. just genuinely beautiful from beginning to end.

i’m not generally big into pop music, but damn is Hemlocke Springs extremely underrated. i know her song ‘girlfriend‘ was viral for a bit a couple years ago, but she’s released new music since and her debut album ‘Going…Going…Gone!’ is genuinely very good. i still find myself listening to it frequently

I stumbled across this movie by finding out three of my favorite actors; marty feldman, richard pryor, and andy kaufman star in this (feldman is also the director). it’s by far from perfect, but god are there so many funny moments and bits from this. andy kaufman in particular was also hilariously fantastic as armageddon t thunderbird, a larger than life evangelical pastor. andy never did a lot of film during his career, but his performance in this does make me wish he was able to be in more films he was clearly passionate about before his untimely passing. this movie also does a great job satirizing mega churches and i’m a sucker for a good religious satire in general.
