I feel like it sucks you out of the world. There’s a 12 hr long brown noise track on Spotify I listen to. It’s one of the best things I’ve discovered, especially on tour. It made me realize I’m kind of sensitive to noise and the brown noise helps with anxiety specifically associated with traveling.

this is old news but apple had an update a while back that allows you to play background noise. i used to get a lot of use out of it when it first came out, sadly i fell out of habit

my local library has toddler singalongs a few times a week and brown noise helps me to focus on my work instead of singingalong too

I listen to this exact same brown noise playlist on Spotify too and it's the best. I like to put it on shuffle. It helps me relax and fall asleep, especially when someone is snoring next to me at night.

i’m incredibly sensitive to external stimuli, especially noise (which I find a little funny because i’m a musician and surrounded by noise all the time) .Brown noise is a less harsh version of white noise and I find it much more calming to listen to.I play it quietly every night to sleep. Living in the city it helps to drown out all the weird chatter, chirping birds, car screeches, and cat fights. Or when I’m back home visiting family in Atlanta, where it tends to feel too quiet at night, it adds a nice cushion of noise to an overly dead room.Another big use for me is when i’m overstimulated or anxious. On tour, I play it in my noise canceling headphones on long drives while I sleep or read to block out any talking and music. I also listen while I get ready before going on stage so I can focus on just what I need to do instead of getting distracted by what everyone else was doing around me

i have been out of town and have been having the most wretched sleep without it until i remembered i can play brown noise with no loops on spotify but even that isn’t the same as my perfect little machine
absolute bangers for anxious people/people that can’t fall asleep quickly/people that love white noise (I am all three 😀). sometimes you just need to pretend you’re falling asleep on the beach.

directed by Bruce Weber, I watched this recently and it's one of my favorite music documentaries. Chet Baker has always been a huge influence on me. I’ve listened to slow jazz way before I got into slow core. This doc is free on YouTube and it’s an amazing and sad insight into his life. It juxtaposes the young handsome Chet on his way to the top with the old Chet in the 80s - the doc came out a couple months after he died - he’s reflecting on his life and his choices and it portrays him as a man who is lost in this dream world. It interviews his kids and his ex wives and lots of other people who saw his career form and fall apart. It’s a tragic story about talent and the harm of addiction. The cinematography is great too - there’s a shot it keeps going back to of Chet Baker as an old man in the back of a convertible with the wind blowing that I love.

there is one I have where the color of the light resembles a candle glow and it’s the best way to read. I bring it when I’m traveling. It's a lot better than the reading lights on an airplane or the bedside lamp in a hotel.

I always carry around a little bag of them. Such a perfect snack… absolute candy from nature and they are good for you. Combo them with some pistachios and it’s heavenly.
