This song, and the EP it's on, is just the sweetest, most comfy thing ever. It's not saccharine, in fact all of pickle darling's songs have really relatable feelings of insecurity behind them. Plus they mention Sufjan Stevens and sample Synecdoche New York so that's bonus points in my book. If you liked this, I really recommend checking out their more recent work. It's all within the bedroom-pop genre but they've developed their sound really well over the last few albums. "Biology" on the album Bigness is a favourite of mine.

Girly Pop Nation: rise up 2024 has been an incredible year for pop music. Ngl it’s challenging that Sabrina is so talented and so beautiful- sometimes hard to be happy for her. But the music is so good and she’s so unserious that I can get past it. Early favs: Coincidence Bad Chem Juno Don’t Smile Also Slim Pickins is a nice s/o those of us who’ve been on Hinge. Now we have this song to tether our experience. edit: I’d also like to add that I admire Sabrina’s unapologetic horniness.

synthy, sometimes slinky, mysterious and almost cinematic in a noir kinda way. love listening to the album as a whole bc that intro to the first song really feels like an experience.

Koudelka was a photographer who documented Europe from the 60s onwards, recording the lives of travelling people, Soviet invasions, struggles with poverty, and more. He later became a member of the Magnum society and continued his work into old age. If you have the time, it's really worth digging into his work as he had a real eye for striking images that provide a lot of context for the situation he was in. He used to travel with very little besides a sleeping bag and camera so he often experienced the harsher side of life while on the job. At times his photos were smuggled out of the soviet borders, and published anonymously, to keep him safe. Check the link for a good starting point on Magnum's website!

I'm not obsessed with it but it's always sweet when the barista does something cool. This one yesterday made me smile because after seeing a few others I realised the guy was doing Pokémon! Fairly certain mine is mew or Mewtwo, I saw him do a horsea, pikachu, and squirtle too...
