I absolutely love getting a physical book, particularly ones from charity shops etc because they're so cheap!
However I totally get your points about reading on a kindle. I have one and when I read something on there I do think I find it easier and so read faster, and for longer. Turning pages is a little easier so you can read at any angle easily, it packs into any bag (and most coats), and a book is often way cheaper digitally. Plus, if you use Amazon's email-to-kindle service, you can actually send any pdf/epub to the kindle, meaning you have the option to read anything in public domain (e.g. Project Gutenberg) or...uh... anywhere else you magically find online, for free!
Granted, I'm talking about a physical kindle. I don't use the app on my phone much, but it is pretty good as well. I would suggest taking a look on eBay or the like for older Paperwhite models β mine is probably from 2014 and it's perfect. Not sure how much they go for second hand but weigh it against the price of another haul of books!

personally i have enjoyed physical books over digital copies over the years, but I usually order my books used. 1) i want to be cheap 2) i kinda like the idea of having this passed down item with a bit of age 3) the smell of a book is enticing
And like you mentioned, spending a lot of time on my phone or Ipad makes me want to take time away from electronics and go towards a hard copy.
where i get my used books: ThriftBooks, AbeBooks, Half Priced Books, used bookstores, Goodwills, Free Little Libraries around me, and the like

I wake up thinking about my kindle. I take it everywhere with me. On the train? Reading my kindle. At the park? Reading my kindle. In bed at 8pm? Reading my kindle.
I also was sick of buying books that sucked and being stuck with an object that took up space so now if I love a book on my kindle I buy a physical copy. Expensive habit but worthwhile imo.

any brand!!! i recently got a 6" kindle on back market and im so obsessed. it is so little and lightweight, it fits in almost all of my purses so i can always bring it with me. there are a lot of ebooks available and you can upload your own pdfs. i really love having my library in a portable state (though i will say some of my pdfs are sadly not readable on the kindle due to formatting but its ok). i recommend this item irl constantly, i am reading exponentially more than i was before i got it and i feel so alive lol if u have reading goals for 2024 it is a great thing to get!! not to mention they are super chic to hold!

Feels a bit redundant to recommend one of the most popular movies of all time, but for me this one had kind of stayed in the category "I'm sure it's good, I'll get to it some day".
A friend put it on and I absolutely adored it βΒ it wasn't just a great, scary horror movie β it covered a breadth of genres, was written really well, had great acting, and looked just wonderful.

Find a bunch of cool Public Domain or Creative Commons images (I just click "Random File" on Wikimedia Commons) and turn them into something you think looks like an album cover. It's fun to come up with a name for the band / album and imagine what their stuff would sound like!
Maybe don't do this, actually. It's kind of a massive waste of time. I find it fun, though!
As a bonus you can then make a chart of them and send it to your friends saying they're your favourite new releases. Waste their time as well :)
