been my ride or die pocket synth for going on 10 years. really versatile and durable, you can get some good deals on used ones too now that the OP Field is out. has a very digital sound to it but i’ve used it in plenty of songs and it sounds great in the mix. played live with it for a bit too when I was doing shows. was also gifted the EP-133 (K.O. II) for christmas and liking it so far, haven’t gotten too into the sampling functionality but been enjoying the workflow and the built in sounds are nice. not sure if that one’s still on back order but it’s a very reasonable price point for TE.

Elektron Models:Samples

Very fun, sample-based sequencer/synthesizer. It has provided me with lots of fun this winter, I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to make some sounds.

this is the best shit ever !! comes with so many useful features,, like this cool little widget where you can record a demo on your phone from your lock screen—i was just fiddling and actually ended up with a 9 min long concept demo which i spent hours arranging on garage band just for my E string to snap while recording :/
not the point tho lol this thing is fkn amazing,, i’ve known about it for a whilee but only started using it recently because recording progressions on my phone just to capture an idea outside of a daw has been a part of my process for a while and this makes it soo much easier—it even picks up the bpm and key your playing in like ??? im in lovvveee; you can even write notes, pitch up n down, eq! and generate stems!! and add new versions to each projects !!???

cute community events

me and my friends organized a mario kart tournament in our local bar, invited a drag queen to host it (she was dressed like mario 😭) and we dj‘d in the background while people were all sitting by tables and watching the game. the crowd was super cute and friendly. the bar let us do our set design thingy so we had video art, flowers and different kinds of cozy lighting. one of our friend was playing a live set using his gear (synthesizers, drum machine etc) and samples from the mario world. he was epic. this was such a wholesome thing to organize, everyone seemed to have a sweet time and the bar staff constantly told us how cute they thought all of this came together. i really appreciate spaces that let artists do their thing and i love how everyone in the room felt united because of the game and the music. i dont really enjoy watching sports in bars but now i get it. its this feeling.
