Worth it alone for the costumes and the glory of Technicolor, and to see that yes, Ava Gardner really was that breathtakingly beautiful. Also I had no idea that at least 2 major scenes would involve a race car???
Forever iconic. This movie has everything—Bette Davis, homoerotic obsession, a scene-stealing cameo from a little-known up-and-coming actress named Marilyn Monroe…
I never hear a thing about this movie and it’s been a favorite of mine since I was a kid.
Elizabeth Hurley as the devil?! Fundamentally changed me 🥵
And Brendan Fraser, America‘s sweetheart, plays I think 8 different characters??
A true masterpiece of a romcom and it deserves some attention!!!
costuming 10/10, plus marilyn, music, and surprisingly progressive undertones. honestly a cultural touchstone in so many ways (i also recommend some like it hot, not in color but still very good)
And FIVE were selected for publication in the latest issue of artdoc magazine, two in their online exhibition :) I wrote my artist statement in 30 seconds because I didn’t even imagine it would be seen. I’ve struggled with confidence in my creative vision and sharing my work recently, so this is an amazing way to close out the year 🌀🦋
The internet archive is just the greatest thing ever, i love it for the ephemeral films and lost home videos, old religious and esoteric manuscripts, textbooks, nasa photos, centuries’ worth of magazine issues, old records, lectures…. 💌
