People can never get my name right in first try, most of the time end up calling me before but my name's simple to pronounce its "vib-whore".

which was embarrassing + frustrating as a child. As an adult I figured out a joke to teach people to say my name correctly and now I really love having an un-nicknamable name + also basically a mononym cos U have probably never met another one of me in Ur life !!

back in school i used to help or hinder my teachers based purely on their first impression when they did the first registration call. they'd get to about the middle of the list and just pause. and i knew. i knew it was me. if good vibes - i'd raise my hand and put them out of their misery if bad vibes - nothing about my expression would betray my position even in the slightest. you would think i was under the impression that i have the most straighforward, easily pronouncable name in existence. and then i would make them guess. guess until they got somewhere close enough for me to go "oh, i think thats me?" good times

As someone who has a uniquely spelt name, my biggest grief with it has never come from its obvious differences but people’s outright rejection of its difference. My name has the tough task of holding so much identity within its one word and people’s seemingly entitled liberties in changing its spelling will always make my blood boil. To be clear, people never spell it right the first time and that’s not my issue. It is that after many repetitions, teachings, or it being spelt correctly right in front of them, that they still take it within themselves to spell it how they find appropriate. I imagine many others with cultural, ethnic, or unique names also face this frustration. So. I am volunteering as tribute to plead with the public to spell our names right.
