I am personally not big on DIY coding and after going through what felt like torture with Wix, Squarespace, and Wordpress I tried Google Sites (which is free) and I found it to be the easiest way to create a simple and functional website that didn’t feel over-designed. It’s definitely won’t deliver a super slick or flashy aesthetic but that’s what I was going for anyways.

That’s crossed my mind, it would make more sense instead of complicating it with wix or squarespace thanks for the advice

No coding involved. And it allows you to publish one page for free (with a watermark though) so… it has many basic fonts and it’s pretty much drag and drop with cool widgets that I find tougher to code. I’ve used Cargo site and all that back in my design school days… and as much as I love Cargo… the learning curve for readymag is much more accessible for everyone who wants to create a website. No hassle of adding some code here and there if you’re creating something simply for fun.

by far the easiest free "site" builder (especially if you're already in the notion ecosystem at all.) pretty sure they have domain forwarding as well if you want a custom one, and there's no shortage of examples of how to customize a notion page available on youtube and stuff if you want it to look a little more jazzy than the stock experience which is pretty minimalist

Try Square Space (or something similar, but Wix is boycotted). You’ll have to research the blog functionality, though.
Wordpress probably is still the queen of blogging platforms but that’s more complicated.
mmm.page is a really fun website option but probably not for blogging
