Felt BLESSED and PROSPEROUS to cap off this year with Extra Small’s (duo composed of Jae and Levy) album Tears. So legit, clever as hell. Chic as fuck, experimental hip hop/electronic ushering in a new vibe shift TL;DR THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO HEAR AT THE CLUB. Production so satisfying and hard-hitting that it scratches an itch I didn’t know I had. GTA radio glamour. Oversized sunglasses on. I’m walking around listening to it, clipping shoulders and stepping on heels. Highlights for me are the single track Balmain, Pony, and Toi Et Moi. I’m Trouble when this comes on insert skull emoji insert crying emoji ETC

2023 album from detroit creatives tayloe, yanaa, and mikayla j - stumbled across this last year via hitech's toneglow interview. would highly recommend, i'd bet that there's at least 1 out of the 13 tracks that get you groovin.

I've been digging into the back catalog of the late, great Paten Locke the past week. This album is one of the standouts of a really stacked discography and found me right in time for the lovely spring weather we've been experiencing in Pittsburgh. The Smile Rays was a Jacksonville, FL group comprised of Paten Locke (fka DJ Therapy) on raps, Batsauce on beats, and Lady Daisey on sung vocals. This album is an absolute ray of sunshine. It's firmly hip-hop but with a sense of fun and play that feels very refreshing. Stylistically, it's somewhere along the lines of the first wave of DITC crew releases (like Showbiz & AG's Runaway Slave or Diamond D's Stunts, Blunts, and Hip-Hop) and 90s alternative sampledelica a la Deee-Lite, Towa Tei, Cibo Matto, & Cornelius. If you're looking for some top tier Summer music, this is it, look no further. It will be getting a lot of burn from me!

Then you remember your friend already offered to pay for the Uber XL home and you have like 11 bucks so you drop the bit but the sentiment is still there below the surface
