A place of calm in an otherwise manic city. Central and secluded at the same time. The architecture and the history and the silence and the solace are gifts rarely found in cities running to deform themselves for what’s to come. The only spot I have seen people stop and talk to you and share their attachment and pride about the place. How their morning walks have now been made more interesting by lone wanderers like myself trying to answer questions I’ve never even asked. This place is alive and well for those who live and breathe. Beyond just existing.

it's a couple miles from where I live, I don't know who owns it, accessible by foot down an abandoned road hidden behind a gate it is away from the crazy and traffic and city and machines —  I walk, wander, sit, lay, and am at last able to breathe really feels like home

idk if there a name for this, i don’t mean a third place. i mean a spot you go to that is meaningful and ideally not very crowded or rarely frequented by others at all. somewhere to read or journal or just sit and think. sometimes if someone you know is special enough you‘ll take them there. you have a lot of options in rural areas but i find they’re particularly important in suburbs or cities where there’s people everywhere all the time. if you live somewhere touristy they’re best if you gatekeep them!!
